KLIM just announced new updates to its Badlands Pro A3 suit. It’s declaring the improvements are good news just for the company itself, but for the whole moto gear industry. Bold claims, but KLIM says the suit is proof that gear with the highest safety rating can still be comfortable.

Back when this series first launched in 2021, it was the first ADV suit that carried a CE AAA rating. As we told you then:

Although you don’t hear as much noise about it in North America, CE-rated gear is a big deal in Europe. Over there, moto gear is rated to CE’s A, AA, or AAA standard, with A being the least-protective (we’re talking the protection of a pair of Levis here, a pretty low bar). AA-rated gear is intended to stand up to a worse crash, and AAA-rated gear, the highest standard of all, is pro-level protection. Typically, the only gear that meets AAA rating is heavy-duty leather, like a roadracing suit.

Race suits aren’t suitable for adventure riding, though, so ADVers had to make do with AA-rated gear. Most textiles don’t have the same crash resistance as leather, and that’s what most ADV gear is made of.

At that time, to achieve their new safety rating, KLIM created a new fabric with help from Gore-Tex and Vectran. But while the suit had good crash resistance, there was apparently room for other improvement. KLIM says the Badlands Pro A3 now has “significant updates to overall venting, fit and armor placements for world-class durability and functionality on the most demanding adventures.”

Previously, this suit was only in limited production, but now it’s a standard item in Klim’s lineup, with more color choices and trim. The jacket gets soft leather cuff bindings and big vents on the wrists. There’s a new right hand pocket and waterproof chest pocket as well as slots for optional chest armor (sold separately). There are also new tall-size jackets available. The pants get new vents in the lower leg, new in-pocket organizers, lighter fabrics in areas that require less abrasion protection, and new sizing options for a better fit.

The images above show the jacket and pants are otherwise loaded with vents and pockets, with waterproofing via Gore-Tex technology. Both jacket and pants come with Superfabric overlays to beef up the chassis where needed. The jacket comes with armor in elbows, shoulders and back. The pants come with knee and hip armor. If you’re curious about the specific specs of each piece, you’ll see more details and photos at KLIM’s website here.

As with the past edition of the Badlads Pro A3 jacket and pants, the price tag reflects the specs. The Badlands Pro A3 jacket has a $1,499 MSRP; the pants have a $969.99 MSRP. For that money, you do get a pretty impressive warranty (see here).
