The last year or so has been difficult for KTM. Even before the financial wrangling got bad, there was controversy over the LC8c engine platform (the parallel twin found in their 790/890/990 series, as well as the Husqvarna 901). Now, KTM is responding to that with a new, extended warranty available for riders who buy an eligible machine with an LC8c engine after December 13, 2024.

The deal sees the bikes come with a standard two-year warranty, with another Premium Manufacturers’ Warranty (their words) tacked on top of that for another two years, for four years in total. Neither the KTM website nor their downloadable FAQ section makes any mention of mileage, but the FAQ does say that the added warranty comes at no charge, as long as your bike is eligible. However, the warranty service is tied to making sure your bike gets its scheduled servicing. As they put it:

HOW DO I ENSURE MY KTM MOTORCYCLE IS COVERED BY THE PREMIUM MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY?

Easy. Just book a service for your KTM at an authorized KTM dealer. The PREMIUM MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY will be kept active once the service has been carried out, giving you up to 4 years of coverage for 2023, 2024, and 2025 LC8c and LC8 STREET and TRAVEL models*, free of charge.

Note the mention of 2023 machines—if you bought a leftover machine with an LC8c engine in the approved timespan, that machine has the same coverage as a new ’25 model.

This is a global warranty, so if you’re traveling the world on your 890, you can get it wrenched on in Europe, the Americas, Asia, wherever, and it’ll all be good.

Also note that KTM is offering the same warranty for some 1390 models as well. See more details below:
