The rollout continues for KTM’s 390 series. Now, on top of the supermoto and enduro models we saw over the past few weeks, we also get the KTM 390 Adventure R and 390 Adventure X for 2025. You can see the R in action below:
The formula is much the same as we saw with those other 390s this winter. They all have the latest version of KTM’s liquid-cooled 399cc single, with six-speed gearbox, slipper clutch and optional quickshifter (they come from the factory with the quickshifter, but you must pay to activate it). Max output is around 44 horsepower and 28 pound-feet of torque.
That updated engine is really no more powerful than the previous model; what will interest riders more is the new “true rally-inspired design,” as KTM puts it—while looks are a subjective matter, most riders will probably appreciate the re-styling. And the new 21-18 spoked wheelset on the R model means proper knobbly tires are much easier to source for the machine; Mitas Enduro Trail E07+ rubber comes standard. It should handle the dirt much better than previous models with the 19-17 wheels. Indeed, KTM says the Adventure R is their most off-road focused adventure bike in this segment yet. The adjustable WP APEX suspension comes with 230mm of travel front and rear; in front, KTM used their open-cartridge design to improve performance.

Dry weight is about 363 pounds for the R model. That includes the weight of the crash bars, as they’re included as standard. Fuel capacity is 3.69 gallons (14 liters).

Of course there will be an extensive Power Parts collection, with all the official accessories you want for travel. Photo: KTM
A built-on Offroad Mode allows the rider to tune their machine’s engine and electro-safety features for dirt riding, including deactivation of ABS at the rear wheel. The footpegs have two mounting positions available, which should help riders get over their complaints on previous versions of this model, with pegs that weren’t suited for off-roading.
A 5-inch TFT screen display is standard, and there’s a USB-C charging port as well.
MSRP for the KTM 390 Adventure R is $6,999 USD plus taxes and fees, and these machines will be in dealerships around April of 2025. See more info here.

As for the X: This comes with cast wheels, presumably in the same 19-17 sizes as the previous 390 Adventure models. This brings the seat height down a bit, to 32.4 inches, as well as the price (MSRP is $5,899 plus taxes and fees). Other than the wheels, the suspension is tuned a bit differently (WP APEX fork, WP APEX Emulsion shock, with 205 mm of travel front and rear). It’s pretty much the same bike as the R, but with a chassis intended more for street riding. See more info here.
