Honda is bringing its made-in-India GB350S retro to Europe, and maybe, maybe, North America might be next.

The GB350S is named after the GB500, one of Honda’s best-loved retro models today, if you can find one—they were initially not well-received.

The news about the European intro came from EICMA today, where Big Red unveiled their eye-catching retro bike, based off the made-in-India 350 single-cylinder. The machine is very popular in its home market and Honda has been eyeing overseas sales for years, but it’s been slow to come to the West.

Perhaps that’s because it is a tad heavy and not very powerful, like other similar models from India. The air-cooled two-valve single only makes about 21 horsepower from 348 cc, and just over 20 pound-feet of torque, while the bike has a curb weight of 392 pounds. Can you say “Life in the slow lane”… ?

Despite that modest output, this machine actually comes with traction control. ABS is also standard.

The chassis is all very old-fashioned, with steel tube frame and a low 31.5-inch seat height. There’s a set of twin shocks in back and a standard 41 mm telescopic fork up front, with a set of gaiters for that retro look. The cast wheels are 19-inch diameter in front, and 17-inch diameter in rear. The gauge cluster includes an analog speedo and digital gear indicator.

All in all, a simple bike and pricing sounds sensible in Europe, where it will probably be marketed to A2 license holders. Here in North America, the relatively low-power engine may be a harder sell, and we’ve certainly heard no indication it’s coming. But if it does, maybe Honda will also bring in their Himalayan rival they’re said to be working on, a 350 ADV travel bike based off this platform?
