Chinese manufacturer Voge is keen to chase down the high-end corners of the adventure bike segment, and their new Voge DS 800 Rally shows it.
You can fake a lot of things in marketing, and who’s to say whether or not the machine in the video represents the bike that consumers will buy? But one thing is for sureāthe bike in that video is getting a solid workout, on dune climbs and in rock gardens.
Who’s Voge?
Voge is a subsidiary of Chinese manufacturer Loncin. Loncin has been in business for a long time now, and has been making parts for BMW, including engines, since 2007. Voge is their premium brand, intended to offer bikes with high-end components in Asia and to western markets.
We haven’t seen a lot of technical information on the bike; the video gives us the following details in its description:
- Engine: Parallel twin, 798 cc
- Maximum power: 94 hp
- Maximum torque: 81 Nm
- Maximum speed: 190 km/h
- Wheels: Tubeless, 21″ front, 18″ rear
- Tyres: Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR
- Suspension: KYB, fully adjustable
- Ground clearance: 220 mm
- Seat height: 850 mm
- Kerb weight: 213 kg
- Driver assistance systems: Multi-mode ABS, traction control
- Lighting: Full LED with adaptive headlight
- Instrumentation: Multifunction colour TFT display
The thing is, Voge already has a 900 adventure bike series, and that leaves us confused. Are they planning on having an 800-class machine and a 900-class series as well, just like BMW does with its F-series twins? Uh, maybe.
Whatever the case, the Voge 800 shows that Chinese bikes are getting very, very close to being on-par with their Euro and Japanese competition. After a test ride, you might not see barely any difference; they’re certainly selling lots of Chinese machines in Europe.
