Aprilia’s Tuareg Rally is their hottest new bike as far the ADV scene goes, but if you want one of the fastest naked bikes on the market, you might be looking at a Tuono. Now, for 2025, that hypernaked has gotten even more powerful.

Let’s start looking at the changes to the V4 engine. This is still a made-in-Italy powerplant, even as much of the Euro competition outsources more and more work overseas. For 2025, Aprilia beefed the engine up to 1099 cc, up from 1077 cc, and added 52 mm throttle bodies. There’s a new exhaust system with catalytic converter moved so the rider soaks up less heat and it’s also easier to fit an officially approved slip-on exhaust.

Add it all up, and we see max output boosted to 180 horsepower at 11,800 rpm and 89 pound-feet of torque at 9,600 rpm. And of course, it’s Euro5+ legal.

With more muscle comes more need for control, and Aprilia accomplishes this a few ways. First off, there’s a new set of aerodynamic wings with overlapping surfaces that increase downforce, keeping the front wheel planted. Aprilia combined wind tunnel testing with lessons learned in MotoGP to build these new winglets. Of course, there is a new set of bodywork to go with those winglets to give it a sporty look and improve performance and heat dissipation.

For years, Aprilia’s real strength in its streetbikes has been advanced electronics. The rider aid systems are updated for 2025, and the ones that aren’t included as stock can be purchased as “in-app purchases,” installed without visiting a dealer.

There are new adaptive/predictive algorithms to keep you safe, governing wheelie, traction and yaw controls based off the feedback of a six-axis IMU. Aprilia says the onboard software “continuously analyses the vehicle’s dynamic responses and the individual riding style, offering even more refined, effective control.” Based off computer analytics, the onboard electro-brain can do predictive interference with the bike, learning from and adapting to your riding style.

Here’s what to expect for electronics on the standard bike:

– ATC, Aprilia Traction Control, the traction control system that can be adjusted across 8 levels whilst riding without closing the throttle. This system now offers more effective intervention, and works in synergy with the new ASC (Aprilia Slide Control) system, which can be adjusted across 3 independent levels.
– (New) AWC, Aprilia Wheelie Control, the new wheelie control system that can be adjusted across 3 levels, with predictive functions: the intervention does not abruptly step in to mitigate wheelie that has already started, but rather acts gently before the event occurs, to benefit performance. The adaptive function, dedicated to track sessions, learns the rider’s characteristics and adjusts the level of intervention required to ensure the best possible performance.
– AEM, Aprilia Engine Map, with 3 different mapping options to change the character and the
way the engine delivers power.
– AEB, Aprilia Engine Brake, the engine braking control system that can be adjusted across
levels, with a specific algorithm that optimizes function whilst taking the lean angle into account
– AQS, Aprilia Quick Shift, the electronic gearbox for super-fast shifts without closing the throttle
or using the clutch, with a downshift function that lets the rider downshift without having to press
the clutch. Also allows downshifting with the throttle open.

There’s also an Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory, which borrows many components from the RSV4 superbike.  The Factory model comes with the following perks:

– Race Dashboard, the instrumentation configuration dedicated to the track.
– ALC, Aprilia Launch Control, the launch control system for track use only, adjustable across levels, with highly efficient operation strategies.
– APL, Aprilia Pit Limiter, the system that makes it possible to select and limit the maximum speed permitted in order to ride along the pit lane of racetracks, or to enable easy adherence the speed limits on normal roads.
– (New) ASC, Aprilia Slide Control, the new adjustable function that can prevent and limit the lateral slide of the rear wheel. Like the new AWC, the ASC also features predictive functions.
– Bending lights, the pair of additional headlights in the reflectors that illuminate the inside of the curve, increasing visibility when leaning.
– ACC, Aprilia Cruise Control, very convenient during longer rides, as it allows the rider maintain the set speed without having to touch the throttle.

Both bikes get a new lithium battery, a new 5-inch TFT dash, and you can add other parts to even further improve performance on the Tuono V4 Factory. These include the Race Pack:

The Race Pack, only available on the Tuono V4 Factory, includes the GPS Module that also enables automatic detection of lap times on the track, just like in racing motorcycles. The Race Pack offers:
– Corner-by-corner function: as on the most advanced racing bikes, this system automatically changes the electronic ATC and AWC settings in accordance with those enabled by the rider before going out on the track. It is the most advanced version of the corner-by-corner electronics management system that Aprilia first introduced back in 2015.

And then there’s the Suspension Pack:

The Suspension Pack, which requires the GPS Model, is only available on the Tuono V4 Factory, and offers:
– Corner-by-corner suspension functionality: This system automatically changes the electronic settings of the Öhlins Semi Active Smart EC 2.0 suspension, in accordance with the settings enabled by the rider before going out on the track. The Race Pack and Suspension Pack use the new fourth-generation Aprilia MIA, Aprilia’s multimedia platform (offered as an accessory on both models) which enables smartphone connection to the bike, extending the functions of the instrumentation. At the end of each track session, the data from the ECU can be downloaded and analyzed on the computer – a telemetry system  worthy of the best racing bikes.

Both bikes come with updated chassis. The base Tuono V4 has new fully-adjustable fork and shock from Sachs. The Factory variant has Ohlins electronic suspension, with Semi-Active Smart EC 2.0 suspension that allows the rider to easily calibrate the settings of the fork, shock and steering damper.
