Just as we predicted a few days back, the Kawasaki Versys 1100 SE LT has been confirmed for North America, with buyers in the US and Canada both able to buy the bike in a pre-farkled configuration.

Globally, Kawasaki sells three versions of the new 1100-series Versys: A standard model, the S model, and the SE. Here in North America, we will get the SE configuration with the addition of a set of hard bags—hence the LT designation.

This means we get the Showa Skyhook suspension of the SE model, and the TFT dash, along with the 28-liters-per-side panniers. It’s the highest-spec version of the bike that you can buy, which is probably why it’s coming to North America. There’s plenty of profit to be made in selling those flashy parts.

The new bike doesn’t look that different from the past Versys 1000 model, but the engine does get boosted from roughly 118 horsepower to about 133 horsepower, thanks to a combination of re-tuning the engine, stroking the cylinders and re-plumbing the exhaust. The mid-range power between 4,000 rpm and 7,000 rpm is supposed to be much stronger as well, thanks to this re-tuning. The quickshifter is updated to take advantage of this meatier powerband, and there’s a new USB-C charger on the handlebar as well, a welcome addition for riders who want to keep their phone charged. As this is the SE model at its base, it also comes with handguards and heated grips, and the windshield was adjustable. All nice stuff, if you’re touring!

MSRP for this bike is $19,499 for US customers (click here) and $20,399 in Canada.
