Every bike has one: A VIN! Your Vehicle Identification Number is almost always required to register your motorcycle with your local Department of Motor Vehicle (or whatever they call it in your jurisdiction).

However, your VIN is more than just a unique identification number. A VIN uses a standard configuration to give you or a service department (or law enforcement, or trade authorities, or other officials) some very specific information about your bike. This quiz will test your knowledge about what a VIN really means.

This info is common knowledge with a lot of industry insiders, and you can find articles about VIN details going all the way back to the pre-history of print magazines, so you should do well. Even if you don’t know the answer, some questions are true/false, so you have at least a 50 percent chance of getting it right! There should be a lot of scores of at least seven out of 10 correct answers, although maybe it’ll be tricky for some of you. The only way to know is to challenge it for yourself—so get crackin’.

After you have completed the quiz, let everyone know how well you did in the comments below. As always, good luck and enjoy!
