Royal Enfield has hit a major milestone in their quest towards world moto dominance. India’s moto-media reports the Chennai-based manufacturer has sold more than a million motorcycles in a year for the first time ever.
Specifically, they’re talking about the 2024-2025 financial year, as this is how most modern companies calculate their money matters. Royal Enfield’s last financial year wrapped up on March 31, 2025, and at that point, the company had sold 1,009,900 motorcycles since April 1, 2024.
That’s an 11 percent increase from the previous financial year, which shows that Royal Enfield still has the capability to expand and grow its customer base, even if internal combustion-powered motorcycles are no longer seen as the wave of the future in many markets, as many countries push towards electrification over the next decade. Indeed, these sales came without any EV boost, as Royal Enfield’s Flying Flea electric sub-brand is still not in showrooms.
Compared to where Royal Enfield was a decade ago, the growth is even more impressive. In 2015, Royal Enfield sold about 300,000 motorcycles, and even that was a big jump from where it had been not long before. Back then, the big bosses at the company were talking about trying to become the world’s biggest manufacturer of mid-sized motorcycles, and a lot of people laughed. Nobody’s laughing now.

To put things in perspective, Harley-Davidson sold less than 150,000 motorcycles in 2024. Kawasaki sold less than 500,000 bikes. Obviously those manufacturers are in different pricing categories, but it shows you how far Royal Enfield has come. And if you think Royal Enfield is becoming an all-conquering monster, remember that Honda sold about one-third of all motorcycles worldwide in 2024, and that worked out to almost 20 million bikes. Royal Enfield might be picking up steam, but they have a long way to go before being considered on-par. Even Suzuki sold 2.1 million machines in 2024, and Yamaha about twice that, so even getting to that level will take work.
