Welcome to another week of POTW, ADVrider’s photos of the week celebration. We begin with a Featured Photo by @Lapchik, who shot the image of his 2022 Honda CB500X on an iced-over lake just a few days ago. “Normally,” he says, “I prefer to sit around not catching fish while drinking beer in the comfort of my living room, but sometimes I do it on the frozen lake. For extra suffering. On the plus side, my friend’s “shack” has a full kitchen, bathroom, sleeping area, lighting, Wi-Fi, and heavy duty HVAC to keep it comfortable. 16″ of ice in West Central MN, more than enough to support this stuff.” Because we haven’t seen a picture before that combined ice fishing with motorcycling, we award this one the coveted Featured Photo label. For what it’s worth.

And on we go. Next up, more water, but in its unusual liquid form.

Lonely ride in NZ

Here’s a shot from @kiwial in New Zealand of his Suzukli GS-X, taken a few weeks ago. “Twisted rock formations along the Acheron River on another day with nobody else for miles.”

American West

Here are four shots from @Evh1 of his 2024 Triumph 900 Rally Pro on a ride through several western states of the U.S.

Excellent week riding with Jeff Stanton in the Black Hills of South Dakota mostly off-road. Fire tower rough roads and a scenic backroad trip to DevilsTower and Mt Rushmore were highlights in July heat. Temps in the hills were low 80s, so it was pleasant. We rode 2 weeks before the Sturgis invasion. I continued on later to Big Sky Montana to hang with my sister and ride Yellowstone backroads and Big Sky ski country in 70 s temps! I rode a little over 1500 miles in SD, Montana and Wyoming. God gave us such a beautiful country.

Cuban treasure

This “private collection of vintage Hogs” was found during a ride around Cuba by @djmiller217 a few months ago. We’re not sure what he was riding.

Colorado views

From @Darmahman comes this view “looking north to Pleasant Valley from the north end of Horsetooth Reservoir near Bellvue, Colorado, before the first snow.” That’s a 2025 Royal Enfield Bear enjoying the view a few months ago.

Mexican skies

Here’s a shot from @SMJ, who was riding a 2023 Honda CRF 300 Rally near the Mexican border in Arizona a few days ago.

The Mist

@Lochinvar sent us these pix after riding his 2008 Suzuki DR650 around a forestry property several months ago.

I live near Rochester, Washington. Nearby, perhaps 5 miles, is a state-owned forestry with trails for motorcycles and is actively logged. I ride there year round but the winter (when not raining or snowing/snowbound) is my favorite. I rode up one December evening and captured the mist moving into the mountains. I was spellbound. I rode the DR to several vantage points and took pictures of the mist moving into the lower valleys until it was a sea of mist.

In Spain

From @Gladdy_moto comes this GoPro shot taken just a couple of miles north of Montejaque in Spain a few days ago while he was aboard a 2024 Triumph 1200 Scrambler.

Seen at AIMExpo

Editor @Kawazacky sent over the following photos after visiting a bike show in Las Vegas. We’ll take the lazy route here and just throw them all in with a note from the photographer.

Several interesting bikes at AIMExpo in Las Vegas earlier this month, including a Dakar racer by Segway, from the electric racing class. I wasn’t aware Segway had entered, but they did, and the bike was at AIME.

Also check out the interesting purple Dakar-style retro rally raider that Royal Enfield had on display.

Also plenty of weirdo Chinese knock-off machines, copying Japanese designs. And some other cool stuff, including a Roland Sands Design chopper from Royal Enfield.
