Hello, ADVrider-readers, and welcome. Here’s another set of photos submitted by our loyal correspondents, and if not loyal, at least generous, which is all we need. We begin with a Featured Photo that caught my eye right off the bat. Submitted by @Peter640, it’s a shot taken “somewhere up in the Highlands of Iceland in 2019, as my bike made its journey across from the Canadian Arctic Circle to the European Arctic Circle. We were turned round back at Bodo in Norway then by snow and ice, arriving in the North too late in the season.”
Peter640 says he’s on his way to “another assault on the North” right now with his 2014 BMW R1200GS, a new knee, and a very special passenger.
This year we may be too early, the current “plan” is to reach Nordcap in late May then work our way across the North Coast of Norway as far as the Russian border in Kirkeness. I’ve allowed us some time to explore the Arctic coast and Lapland. Then loop south through Finland and into Denmark and Germany. As I had a knee replaced in January, the ride may be a little gentler than last year’s madness in Georgia and Armenia! This is good, as Mrs Peter640 is coming along and I am still getting used to the new knee!
Any ways I hope you enjoy this picture and I’ll send more as this year’s travels progress. For those interested (or with sleep issues), you’ll find more from me in Epic Rides, look for “Jahtaavat Poroja / Chasing Reindeer …”
Cruisin’ America
Here are some pics from @C_H_R after a recent cruise through the US southwest on his 2019 Honda CRF250L Rally ABS, beginning with a shot of Route 66 in Kingman, Arizona.
Below, “an early start from the Burro Creek Camp.”
“Eureca Dunes in Death Valley National Park – unfortunately it’s not allowed to ride the dunes as it is in Morocco :-).”
“On the Burr Trail, Capitol Reef National Park.”
“View over Burr Trail, Capitol Reef National Park.”
Next, and last, “On the Continental Divide trail in New Mexico.”
Nice catch!
Here’s a shot of @Mak’inBacon’s new-to-him Ducati Multistrada 1200S TouringĀ in Arizona. “Snagged this 2012 Multistrada last week with only 1,500 miles, crazy! Showroom condition. This is my 10th Ducati and I can say, this bike rips. Blasted up to Pinetop today from Phoenix. Salt River Canyon was great. IYKYK Cheers!” And yes, Mr. Bacon, we know, we know.
Red sands of Utah
Here’s a shot of @SMJ’s 2024 Kawasaki KLX300 “taking a break from riding the Slick Rock in Moab, Utah,” while its owner gets the photo-proof. Photo taken a few days ago.
Big blow
From @ScottFree comes this shot of a 2024 Royal Enfiend Himalayan 450 in the farm country of northern Illinois, where he “came across this barn, the former home of the three little pigs, which apparently got a visit from the Big Bad Wolf. “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and…” Shot taken a couple of weeks ago.
Nice view
“I tried to reach the top of this hill, but it was too steep and the snow was too deep. The front wheel came up at the end, so, to avoid looping it I had to stop. The great view was worth the effort!” That’s @HogWild speaking about a photo that’s a few years old. The bike is a KTM 350.
Nice lake!
Here’s a shot of @Kiwial’s Suzuki GS-X in front of a memorial to Eileen McMillan at Lake Ohau in New Zealand.” Photo taken a few weeks ago, and submitted as I was putting together this week’s POTW, so a squeaker under the wire.
And that’s all we have for this week. Be sure to return for more next week, and if you have shots you’d like to send our way, click the orange right below! Cheers!
